Situated on the banks of the city's Chao Phraya river, the Grand Palace is among the most visible examples of architecture that remains from Bangkok's Golden Age and is the centerpiece of Rattanakosin, Bangkok's historical center. Rattanaskosin isn't connected to the rest of the Thai capital using either its SkyTrain or MRT systems as of February 2011, so take a taxi or boat to get there.
