Explorers Meriwether Lewis and William Clark journeyed to the Pacific Northwest more than 200 years ago to investigate new trade routes under the orders of President Thomas Jefferson. During their time in Oregon, the team, along with Native American guide Sacagawea, mapped various waterways and travel routes that are still in use today for historic Lewis and Clark tours.
